Education law constitutes one of Cullen and Dykman LLP's core practice areas.  The firm presently serves as general counsel to two colleges, a seminary in New York City, and a private pre K-12 school.  In addition, the firm represents three other institutions of higher learning and two additional private pre K-12 schools in specialized practice areas.

 

In its general counsel role, the firm is called upon to provide a full panoply of legal and advisory services to our educational institution clients.  Many of these services fall into categories which normally are provided to any corporate entity; e.g., general corporate matters, contract work, general and specialized taxation, real estate, litigation, environmental, and employment and labor relations matters.  In addition, we handle special areas unique to educational institutions or specialized in that context.

 

These include academic and college affairs, administration, faculty and tenure, student affairs, fiscal affairs, provision of services to students and staff with disabilities, immigration, school policy development and implementation, insurance, safety and security, regulatory matters, planned giving and development, construction, financial aid, accreditation and recertification, distance learning, and foreign programs and affiliations.
